Patricia Lee (Patti) Smith (Chicago (Illinois), 30 december 1946) is een Amerikaanse singer-songwriter en dichteres. Zij wordt beschouwd als één van de grondleggers van het punkgenre in New York. Vandaar ook haar bijnaam "The Godmother of Punk". Haar werk is een fusie van rock en poëzie.
